Beverly Hills, California

Beverly Hills is a very well-known city in Los Angeles, California. Over 100 years ago it was a Spanish ranch that grew Lima beans where a mere 550 people lived and home to a brand new pink hotel. The motivation for creating Beverly Hills was a group of investors, headed by Burton Green who were looking for oil, but found water instead. In 1912, just about the same time that the silent film industry was getting established, The Beverly Hills Hotel was the first building built in Beverly Hills. There were bridle paths up and down the streets of Beverly Hills, such as Rodeo Drive, Beverly Drive, Canon and more. Famous stars, as Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks, Katherine Hepburn, Cary Grant, John Wayne, Elizabeth Taylor, Judy Garland, and many more. The city is now an estimated 36,000 people.

Today, the city is better known as 90210 which is one of its primary zip codes. An estimated 3,6000 people are now living there.  It is still home to many actors and celebrities and includes the famous shopping district Rodeo Drive and the Beverly Hills Oil Field.

This city is made to be a perfect residential area. Nearly all businesses and government offices are all found south of Santa Monica Blvd with the exceptions being the Beverly Hilton Hotel and Beverly Hills Hotel.

And despite its name, the people of Beverly Hills live in the flat lands of the city. There are also hillside houses north of Sunset Boulevard and these cost more than the average price, but it comes with a great view of the city.

Just recently, the City of Beverly Hills got the Livability Award from the United States Conference of Mayors in recognition of its Ambassador Program, which does what it can to take care of the city’s homeless population.
